LPC
Before pursuing a degree in counseling, Joy was a middle school teacher for over 15 years. Meeting an individual’s needs in a more holistic manner was very important to her, so she pursued and earned a Master of Arts in School Counseling from Missouri Baptist University (2020) Her concentration was in Clinical Mental Health (CACREP).
Joy’s career in education allowed her many opportunities to work with individuals who were experiencing anxiety, depression, family conflict, self-esteem issues, life transitions, anger, and grief. Joy’s focus has always been to help those around her feel heard, supported, and empowered. She has worked with students ranging from kindergarten through college age.
In her therapy, Joy often utilizes the methods of Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior (REBT), and Solution Focus Brief (SFBT). But she can be eclectic in her approach. She works hard to adapt her style and strategies to accommodate the personal needs of the individual and/or group.
